Discussion over a cup of coffee

Was having a discussion with wife on a cup of coffee this lazy morning and we started discussing how bad things have been. With inflation at all time high and prices for household commodities rising sky high the common man is left to bleed, all by himself. Why is the dollar prices sky rocketing. All of a sudden what has happened?

So, the next question popped.. Who is responsible for all this ?
1. Our corrupt politicians  ??
Ans: Yes and No. Yes because they are diverting the funds for their own needs while the common man suffers. No, because they have been doing this for past some time and there was never such kind of rise in inflation or sufferings. So what has changed now ?

2. Anti corruption team
Ans: To a large extent, Yes !! All of a sudden there have been surge in protests and movements across the country against corruption / inflation and blah blah. All this has brought India to a very visible spot in rest of World's eyes. As a result once the people who believed in Great Indian Story have been left to believe that this country's short term future is black and poses a risk of economic breakdown. Hence they are fleeing away taking all the investments they had made in past 3-5 years with whatever profit they could have made. I totally support the cause of these Anti Corruption teams led by some real good people but they have to understand that they will have to be a part of system first and then try to clean it up rather running the blame game endlessly to target people. The people with power have thick skin and they dont give a damn to what you say or protest unless it is a threat to their position.

3. We "The People of India"
Ans : Yes. We are responsible for everything that is happening to us today and if we dont act, the things would be worse than one can imagine. How many of us vote ?? Lets talk of some numbers. Almost 20% of total population is BPL who struggle to get two meals a day. About 35% people are dependent directly or indirectly on agricultural produce so that makes them vulnerable too considering current climate conditions in India which is never suited for the seasonal crops. The educated mass is almost 70% in the country and yet overall voting is done by only 55% of people. Who are these other 45% people? These are people like you and me and mostly who will be reading this post who can vent their anger out on Social Networking Sites and sometime can go to Jantar Mantar to stand alongside the anti corruption leaders but... will never go to vote !! Why ?? Many of them will not be having a voters id and feel its really a pain to get one made. Others... Who cares to go out and vote when you utilize the day watching the latest release with your family or friends. So, in short we rely on the people below poverty line and other vulnerable classes to go vote and choose leaders who can make policies to make our lives better!! In a country where each potato/ tomato is bought with utter care we leave the most important aspect of democracy, choosing our own leaders that can shape the future of this country.

So next time when we discuss about commodity prices soaring or dollar hitting a new high, we must look in the mirror and tell ourselves that "Its all because of ME only and I am gonna change it the next opportunity I get"

                                                  Vote India Vote  !!!
